Short
15 s
is the median length. 78 of the 87 run 16 seconds or less, and the longest runs 35.

At 2.5 words a second, 15 seconds leaves room for about 36 words, so every line has to earn its place.
Guide, updated 4 Nov 2026
UGC ads are paid ads made to look like a post from a real person, usually a short vertical video of someone talking to camera about a product. Here are the six formats, how each one runs on TikTok and Meta, what the numbers really say, and what we measured across our own 87 samples.

01Short answer
Creator prices are Billo's. Lengths are measured on our own samples. Links at the bottom of this page.
02Formats
Most UGC ads are one of these six. Four work with an AI creator. Two need a real person.
| Format | What it shows | A line from our samples | Can AI UGC make it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Problem and solution | A problem the viewer knows, then the product as the fix | Dog owners with light car seats, you need to see this. | Yes |
| Demo or how-to | The product doing its job, step by step | How to onboard a new employee in 10 minutes. | Yes |
| Unboxing | The first look: the box, the details, the fit | My cap finally came. Let's see how it looks. | Yes |
| Routine | The product inside a normal day | Let's get ready, starting with a flawless face. | Yes |
| Testimonial | One customer's real experience, in their words | None. This one needs a person. | No. Use a real customer, with permission |
| Before and after | A real change over time | None. This one needs proof. | No. Use real results you can prove |
The format names follow Billo and Shopify. The last column is our own view: an AI creator is not a customer, so it has no experience to report.

The creators in these videos are AI-made. Brand names appear in the samples as examples of the format. They show what the work looks like, not results for any brand.
04Measured
We measured our own samples on 4 Nov 2026, using automatic transcripts of the 78 with 15 words or more. This shows how we write them, not which ones sell.

05Running it
The video is the same. What changes is whose name is on it, and what you need to get there.
| From your own account | TikTok Spark Ad | Meta partnership ad | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whose name is on it | Your brand | The account that posted it, yours or a creator's | The creator's, usually with the brand's beside it |
| What you need | The right to use the video in ads | The creator's authorization, if it is their post | The creator's permission, for one post or the whole account |
| Extra cost with a creator | Usage rights: +20% to 50% of the fee | Ask the creator. Billo lists whitelisting at +50% to 100% | Ask the creator. Billo lists whitelisting at +50% to 100% |
| With AI UGC | Yes. This is how ours run | Yes, from a post on your own account | No. An AI creator has no account |
Costs are Billo's, from June 2026. Influee lists whitelisting at 30% a month, so ask for a full quote. TikTok and Meta change their ad tools often, so check their help pages when you set one up.
06The statistics
Billo says this, along with a 50% lower cost per click, and points to its own statistics page. Billo sells UGC videos.
Also on Billo, credited to a Yahoo Finance article. We did not trace it back to a study.
On Shopify, credited to an Emplifi analysis. It is about posts on brand social accounts, not paid ads.
On Shopify, credited to TikTok, which sells the ad space. It still makes a fair case for a fast hook.
No ad results of our own. Our samples show the format, not results for any brand, so the fair test is your own ad account.
07How it works
You do not need a big budget to learn something. You need one clean comparison.
Start with the product you most want to sell and the person who buys it.
Keep the middle of the video the same and change only the first line. TikTok hooks has 52 to start from.
Run the versions side by side, so the hook is the only thing that changed.
Judge it on your own numbers, then write the next round around the one that won.
08Good to know
A creator video starts at about $50.
Billo puts new creators at $50 to $150 a video and experienced ones at $150 to $350, and running it as an ad usually adds usage rights. See the full list and a calculator.
An AI UGC ad has one price.
Ours is $99 for a single video, or about $60 to $75 a video on a monthly plan. Usage rights are included once paid, and the first one is free. See pricing.
09Questions
Paid ads in the style of a customer post, usually a vertical video of one person talking to camera about a product. The brand pays for the video and the right to run it. What UGC means covers the wider term.
Our samples have a median of 15 seconds, and 78 of the 87 run 16 seconds or less. That is how we write them, not a rule, so test a shorter and a longer cut on your own account.
The companies that sell UGC say yes, and the figures above come from them. We found no independent test in the pages we read, so run your own.
Yes. AI UGC keeps the style and makes the creator with AI, while your product stays real. It suits demos and product facts. For a real testimonial, use a real customer. Compare the two.
On TikTok, yes. Its ad policy allows AI-generated content if it is disclosed, and says undisclosed ads are rejected or restricted. Every video of ours carries the line "AI-generated creator. Not a real customer." Other platforms and US states have their own rules. This is not legal advice.
A first line that stops the scroll, a problem the viewer knows, and the product doing its job in someone's hand. The UGC script template splits four scripts into those beats.
