18-wheeler and truck accident lawyers

Trucking companies move fast after a crash. We move faster.

The carrier's team often reaches the scene within hours. We send a letter the same day to preserve the truck's data, the driver's logs and the camera footage before any of it disappears.

Step by step

What to do after a truck crash.

Save this list. Most of it you can do from your phone.

  1. 01

    Get medical care first

Truck crashes cause injuries that are easy to miss. Go to the ER or see a doctor the same day.

  2. 02

Do not talk to the carrier

Their adjusters and lawyers work for the company. You do not owe them a statement.

  3. 03

    Write down the truck details

Company name on the door, the USDOT number and the trailer number, if you can.

  4. 04

    Keep every document

Police report, medical records, bills, photos, and the names of anyone who stopped.

  5. 05

Call us within days, not weeks

Electronic logging and engine data can be overwritten. A preservation letter has to go out fast.

  6. 06

    Let us find every policy

The driver, the carrier, the trailer owner and the shipper may each carry insurance.

Who is responsible for a truck crash?

Often more than one party: the driver, the trucking company, the company that loaded the cargo, a maintenance shop or the trailer owner. We look at all of them.

What are hours-of-service rules?

Federal rules limit how long truck drivers can work. A property-carrying driver may drive up to 11 hours after 10 consecutive hours off duty, within a 14-hour window (49 CFR 395.3). Logs that break these rules are strong evidence.

How long do I have to file in Texas?

In most personal injury cases, two years from the date of the injury (Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code 16.003). A claim against a city, a county or the state needs written notice much sooner, generally within six months (101.101), and some city charters set their own rules. Call early.

How much does it cost to hire you?

Nothing up front. We work on contingency: our fee is a share of what we recover for you, 33.3% if your case settles before we file a lawsuit and 40% if we file. If we recover nothing, you owe us no fee and no costs.
