Water pouring from a tap and splashing over a stone sink

Right now

Do this while we drive.

Four things that limit the damage in the minutes before your plumber arrives.

  1. Shut off the water

Find your main valve, usually in the basement, a crawl space or next to the water heater, and turn it clockwise until it stops.

  2. Turn off the water heater

Gas: set the dial to pilot. Electric: switch off its breaker. This keeps the tank safe while the water is off.

  3. Stay away from wet outlets

If water is near outlets or appliances, switch off that area at the breaker panel, but only if you can reach it while standing somewhere dry.

  4. Move things and take photos

Lift rugs and boxes off the floor, then take photos of the damage. Your insurer will ask for them.

Smell gas? Leave the house first, then call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Do not switch lights on or off.

FAQ

Emergency questions.

Still not sure? Call us. A person answers, any time.

Is an emergency visit more expensive?

No. Emergencies get the same flat prices as daytime visits. No overtime, no holiday rates, and the price is still approved by you before any work starts.

How quickly can you come?

A plumber is usually on the way within minutes of your call. Our average arrival across the Denver metro is under an hour.

Where is my main water shut-off valve?

In most Denver homes it is in the basement or crawl space, on the front wall facing the street, or next to the water heater. If you cannot find it, call us and we will talk you through it.

Do you help with insurance claims?

Yes. We take photos, write up what failed and why, and send you a report you can pass to your insurer.
